Prithul keeps hosts alive

Henry Prithul Mondol kept Bangladesh's hopes alive for glory in the Dhaka Bank 20th Bangladesh International Junior Tennis when he reached the boys' doubles semifinal yesterday pairing with his lucky chum Huang Hsuchun of Taipei.

Prithul and Huang, who lifted the doubles crown in the BKSP version of the international meet last month, eliminated Kandan Klei (Philippines) and second seed Rungat Christopher of Indonesia 6-2, 7-5 in the quarterfinals at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna.

The boys' and girls' semifinals (singles and doubles) will be held today.

Lee Hsin Han faces Ceban Achim and Rungat meets Peng Hsien Yin in the boys' semis while Budharto Aris takes on Shin Jung-Yoon and Silfany Vivien is pitted against Russian wild-card entry Kamenskaya Viktoriya in the girls' last four battles.
