The Camelia 27th National Women's Chess Championship got underway yesterday with upsets as defending champion Shamima Akhter Liza and International Woman Master Rani Hamid both lost in the opening round.

Woman FIDE Master Tanima Parveen shocked Liza while Sharmin Sultana Shirin beat veteran Rani Hamid at the BCF hall-room.

Nazrana Khan Eva also collected full points defeating Kishwara Shajrin Evana while the remaining three matches ended in draws.
