BDR-BSF confce begins in Khulna


A three-day border conference between the BDR and the Indian BSF began at the conference room of Hotel Royal International in Khulna city yesterday morning.

Brig. Gen. SM Golam Rabbani, deputy director general of BDR, is leading the nine-member delegation while SR Tewari, IG of BSF North Bengal frontier, is leading the 14-member BSF delegation.

According to a BDR press release, sector commanders of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Khulna, Kushtia and Rajshahi and high officials from BDR headquarters are taking part in the conference.

On the first day, the two sides discussed various issues such as incidents of killing of Bangladeshi nationals by BSF and Indians, smuggling of arms and ammunition, explosives and drugs from India to Bangladesh and push-in attempts. Confidence building measures were also discussed.
