Give me AK47, I'll kill you all
Says Rahman's son after arrest

Nabil, the eldest son of outlawed Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) chief Abdur Rahman, became furious after his arrest in Comilla yesterday.

"Give me an AK47, I'll kill you all," Nabil shouted when Rapid Action Battalion held him on his coming out of the house Jannatul Shafi.

As the elite force asked him why he needed a rifle, the 18-year-old boy said he had Allah's order to kill Rab personnel. "I know how to operate it."

Nabil did not reply to all the questions Rab men asked him during primary interrogation after his arrest. "He was looking desperate and fierce," said a Rab officer.

He said residents of Jannatul Shafi, where he was staying with JMB bomb expert Mollah Omar and his family, were ready with bombs standing at the doors on the ground floor of the two-storey house.

"When they threatened to blow up the house, they meant it," the Rab officer quoted Nabil as saying.

Asked when he had come to the house, Nabil did not reply.

Talking to The Daily Star after the operation, some Rab officials said they have no clear idea why Nabil came out of the house. "Maybe he was frightened receiving bullet injury and came to the door and our men brought him out," a Rab officer said.

Alamgir alias Saikat, another JMB activist who surrendered during the operation, said he went to the house 20 days ago. He said local JMB leader Shawon rented the house.

Before his arrest on March 2 in Sylhet, JMB chief Abdur Rahman instructed Shakil over phone to keep his son Nabil with him, a Rab source quoted Alamgir as saying. Nabil went there on March 1, he said.
