Nat'l flag rally against militancy tomorrow

A national flag rally will be held at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital tomorrow afternoon with a fresh call for unity against the Islamist militancy, communalism and fundamentalism.Under the banner of Bikkhubdha Deshbashi, members of civil society and leaders of human rights will gather at 3:00pm and make a vow to save the country from the grip of religious militancy and build a prosperous nation. Flag rally will begin with national anthem and paying homage to the heroes of the War of Liberation, leaders of Bikkubdha Deshbashi said at a press conference at the Reporters Unity auditorium in the city yesterday. Columnist Kamal Lohani will read the keynote paper at the rally with Bangladesh Mahila Parishad Chairperson and women's rights leader Hena Das in the chair, said Rokeya Rafiq Baby of Karmojibi Nari. Different human rights organisations, including Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), Step Towards Development, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, Nijera Kari, Karmojibi Nari, Law Review, Bandhu Sabha of Prothom Alo, Udichi, Baushi, Nagarik Udyog, Jubo Nagarik Adhikar Jote, Tarun Nagarik Udyog and Joydhani will take part in the programme. Intellectuals, professionals, teachers, students, cultural activists and workers from all over the country will take part in the flag rally where the next programme will be announced. A flag procession will march through different city roads from the Central Shaheed Minar, said Motahar Akhanda of ASK. Bikkubdha Deshbashi is organising flag procession since December 14 protesting the religious militancy.
