Police said the bus hit the rickshaw after it was knocked by a covered van at about 1:00pm leaving three people dead on the spot.

Two of the deceased were identified as rickshawpuller Mohsin and its passenger Meherunnesa. But identity of the dead bus passenger could not be known immediately.

At least 30 passengers of the bus were also injured in the accident. They were admitted to different hospitals of the district.

A Correspondent from Chandpur reports: One youngman was killed when a Comilla-bound local bus hit him from behind at around 11:00am yesterday on Chandpur-Comilla Regional Highway at Mohamaya, about 10km from the town.

The dead was identified as Arjun Chandra Sutradhor, 16, of Mohamaya in Sadar upazila.

Witnesses said, the accident occurred when the victim was crossing the road. He succumbed to his injuries on way to Sadar Hospital. Police seized the bus but the driver managed to escape.
