Police said Mahbubur Rahman, 37, ASP of Chittagong City Special Branch, reached Dhaka at around 4:30am and got off the bus at Kakrail circle to go to Ramna Police Officers' mess.

On the way, four muggers stopped his rickshaw and tried to snatch his bag.

At one stage of scuffle, the muggers stabbed the police officer in his hip and left the place.

The passersby rushed him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital from where he was shifted to police hospital.
