Properties worth Tk 30 lakh gutted in Nilphamari

Four big business establishments were gutted and properties worth about Tk 30 lakh damaged in a devastating fire at Jaldhaka Bazar in Jaldhaka upazila yesterday morning.Five people were also injured when a crowd rushed to bring the fire under control. Witnesses said the fire originated at about 5:00am from the wholesale grocers' shop of Md Chati Mamud at Dalia Road at Jaldhaka bazar. The fire came into contact with the drums of diesel kept there for sale to the farmers for irrigation in the Irri-Boro fields. The fire engulfed three other shops immediately. Local people rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after two hours of frantic efforts. Later, the fire brigade vehicles from Nilphamari, Domar, Saidpur and Rangpur reached the spot.
