Clarification
Team Leader of the Jamuna-Meghna River Erosion Mitigation Project (JMREMP) Knut Oberhagemann sent a clarification to a report published in The Daily Star on March 18 with the headline "No river training plan yet to check erosion." Knut asserted that he did not say, "It takes around one to five years to get the proposals approved." Rather, he had said, "Government approval of proposals for riverbank protection commonly takes one to two years after preparing designs based on the site's condition. Subsequently it takes one or two years to implement work on major rivers. Hence the implementation time from planning to completion of construction could be up to five years."
