Modern volumetric CT angiogram facility at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital

Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital and Research Institute (ICHRI) has installed the most modern volumetric CT angiogram facility to obtain a clear 3D images of the heart.With this new, risk-free and non-invasive technology, doctors will be able to diagnose a patient's illness much faster to commence the treatment more quickly, said the experts. The installation of the volumetric CT angiogram facility was done under a joint venture agreement between ICHRI and BBC (Bangladesh Business Corporation). Information Minister M Shamsul Islam formally launched the CT angiogram facility by attending a function as chief guest at Bangladesh- China Friendship Conference Centre yesterday. He said with this latest CT angiogram technology, people would be enormously benefited. Bangladesh has made tremendous progress particularly in health sector in last few decades, but many things have yet to be done, the minister added. Omar Ishrak Ph.D, chief executive officer of GE Healthcare, delivered a keynote speech on CT angiogram. Naresh Narasimham, business manager of CT (South Asia), made a technical presentation on volumetric CT angiogram. He said this CT angiogram is non-invasive, painless, safe and robust. Monzur Elahi, chairman of ICHRI board of management, said even 10 years back many medical technological facilities were not available in the country for which people used to go abroad. Now these are being installed in the country, he added. Mohammed E Malik, chairman of BBC, said it must be under consideration to keep the cost of angiogram under the affordability of all as far as possible. Secretary General of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh Prof A K Azad Khan and Chief Executive Officer of ICHRI M A Mokaddem also spoke on the occasion.
