Citibank NA donations for Liberation War Museum
Citibank NA has donated Tk 1,39,000 to the Liberation War Museum for its countrywide book reading programme, which is aimed at upholding country's history and heritage, says a press release.The money was collected through a fund raising programme, an initiative taken by the Citibank jointly with The Prothom Alo in January 2006. Under this special programme, Citibank makes a percentage contribution to charity from every international payment or reimbursement processed by the bank for corporate banking clients. Khondoker Rashed Maqsood, head of Global Transaction Services and acting chief executive officer, Citigroup Bangladesh, handed over the contribution cheque to Mofidul Hoque, a trustee of the Liberation War Museum, on Thursday. Abdul Quayum, joint editor of The Prothom Alo, Dr Sarwar Ali, member secretary of the Liberation War Museum, Mahbubur Rahman, Financial Institutions head, Citigroup Bangladesh, and Khwaja Masum Billah, senior country operations officer, Citigroup Bangladesh, were also present at the cheque handover ceremony. Citibank has also donated 50 volumes of 'Nirbachito Begum: Ordhoshotabdir Shomajchitra 1947 - 2000' edited by Maleka Begum, for museum's mobile library as well as two computers for their capacity development and book reading facilitation programme.
