A Bangladeshi citizen abducted by the Border Security Force (BSF) of India was killed during a more than four-hour long gunfight between the BSF and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) on Tentulia border in Panchagarh district in the small hours of yesterday.A tense situation is prevailing on the border. Deploying a large number of soldiers with heavy arms near Hatiram BSF camp, the BSF opened unprovoked fire at Goalgoach outpost of BDR and Kashimpur village on Tentulia border at around 1:45am yesterday, BDR, police and local people said. The BSF also intruded into Bangladeshi villages, abducted an unidentified person, and killed him inside the Indian border. After BDR officials' repeated failure to contact their Indian counterparts over telephone, BDR started firing back at around 3:30am. Even after the end of gunfight at around 6:00am, BSF continued their provocative activities along Tentulia border, sources said. Later a battalion commander-level flag meeting was agreed on the incident from 4:30pm yesterday. Earlier on Thursday, a three-hour-long gunfight between the BSF and BDR occurred on Goalgoach border in Tentulia after the BSF opened fire on Bangladeshi labourers.
