Strike observed at DU to protest Kansat killings

A strike was observed yesterday at Dhaka University (DU) protesting the killings in Kansat and demanding trial of the killers. No classes or examinations were held at the university. Our CU Correspondent reports: Chittagong University (CU) yesterday virtually came to a halt as Sadharan Chhatra Chhatri Sangram Parishad enforced a student strike protesting against water crisis and frequent power cuts. Sources said Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) CU unit under the banner of Sadharan Chhatra Chhatri Sangram Parishad had called for the strike only to foil the celebration of Bangla New Year. The organisers of the Prothom Alo-Daily Star Baishakhi Utshab 1413 postponed their programmes yesterday due to the student strike. A fresh date for the programme would be announced after a meeting with the administration, said the organisers.
