4 Hizbut Tawhid men remanded in Jhalakathi


A court in Jhalakati yesterday placed the four arrested Hizbut Tawhid activists on a five-day remand.

The four were arrested while they were distributing leaflets of Hizbut Tawhid, an Islamist militant organisation in Dasnakanda village in Jhalakati sadar upazila on Tuesday.

They are Md. Khalilur Rahman Howladar, 30, of Guthia village; Helal Howlader, 32, of Parmansha; Humaun Kabir, 26, of Gazir Par and Abu Hasem, 31, of Shakrail village in Uzirpur upazila in Barisal district.

Local people caught and handed them over them to Nabagram police camp.

Police produced them before the Jhalakati Sadar Upazila Magistrate Court on Wednesday, seeking seen days' remand.

Magistrate Ismail Hossain granted five days' remand for interrogation.
