Training centre for English medium schoolteachers launched in city

With a view to meeting growing demands of quality teachers for the English medium schools, a training centre was launched in the city yesterday.The inaugural ceremony of International Training Centre (ITC), a venture of STS group, was held at the auditorium of International School Dhaka (ISD). Speaking as chief guest, Education Minister Dr Osman Farruk emphasised the need for teachers' training to ensure quality education. As there is scarcity of quality teachers' training institute in the country, he hoped that ITC would play a significant role in producing quality teachers. Director of STS Group Tipu Munshi said, "ITC was established to enhance the teaching skills of the existing teachers to international standard. We have thereby introduced the world-renowned Edexcel level 5 teachers' training programme of the UK in the centre to expose them to information and communication technology based teachers' training programme". Dr Ziaushshams, director ITC, Khondoker Moniruddin, managing director of STS Group, MA Moin, director STS Group, Khondoker Jamiluddin, promoter, STS Group and Mirza Taher, regional manager, Edexcel were present at the function. University graduates having at least higher second class in Bachelor or Master degrees in Arts, Science, Social Sciences, Commerce or Business Administration, or students completing 'A' level can have a diploma degree from ITC at a cost of Tk 49,000 in two semesters.
