Workers protest termination at Uttara EPZ

Workers of a foreign-owned sweater factory at Uttara Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Nilphamari staged a demonstration in front of the EPZ gate yesterday protesting alleged termination of some workers and malpractice in appointments. The workers submitted a memorandum to the ePZ director, alleging that the workers were terminated on trivial matters. Police however dispersed the demonstrators. When contacted, Project Director of Uttara EPZ Shah Alam admitted the workers' demonstration and said he has nothing to do if any company terminates its workers.
