Robbers stabbed Mohammad Selim, a night guard of Bhabanipur Govt. Primary School, when he along with local people tried to capture them, police said.

The gang of robbers first stormed into Hotel Shapla at Chittagong University (CU) Gate No-2 at around 3.00am and then raided nearby Alaol Store. They looted valuables worth Tk 20,000 and took shelter at the school.

The gang again entered a shop nearby to commit a robbery but returned back to the school as some people, including the night guard, recognised them.

They tried to capture the gang members who stabbed Selim, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police recovered the body from the school compound and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for autopsy.

A case was filed with the Hathazari Police Station in this connection.
