Blanc in frame for Auxerre job

France World Cup winner and former Manchester United defender Laurent Blanc is in the running to succeed Jacques Santini as manager of Auxerre, the French club's vice-president Gerard Bourgoin announced Thursday.Auxerre parted company with former France, Lyon and Tottenham manager Santini this week after just over a year in charge. Blanc, who was present at Auxerre's Stade Abbe-Deschamps Tuesday for the testimonial of legendary boss Guy Roux, played for the team during the 1995-96 season. He also had spells at Barcelona, Inter Milan and Marseille.
