Five people were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents across the country yesterday.JU Correspondent reports: a man was killed in a road accident at Savar yesterday morning. A speeding vehicle ran over Monir Hossain when he was crossing road at Hemayetpur in Savar at 7:30am, eyewitnesses said. The body was sent to morgue for autopsy. The detail of the deceased could not be known. Our Manikganj correspondent adds: One person was killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Manikganj yesterday. The accident occurred at around 4:00am at Mohadevpur petrol pump area under Shivalaya in Manikganj when a Dhaka-bound fish-loaded truck from Torki port of Barisal hit another truck, killing a fish trader on the spot and injuring another one. The dead was identified as Habibur Rahman, 28, son of late Abdus Sattar of Dakkhin Vautali village under Kalkini of Madaripur district. The body was sent to Manikganj sadar hospital for autopsy. Our Kishoreganj correspondent adds: A youth was killed in a collision between two trucks at Shidesshori area yesterday morning. The dead was identified as Liton Mia, 35, son of Iqbal of Boulai area of the town. As two trucks collided, Liton was critically injured in the collision, eyewitness said. Locals took him to Kishoreganj Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead, hospital sources said. Police arrested helper Polton, 22, who was driving the truck at the time of accident, police sources said. BDNEWS from Chapainawabganj reports: Two people were killed and four others injured in a road accident at Chhatrajitpur of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj yesterday. The dead were identified as Shah Alam, 16, son of Sagar Ali of Rehaichar village and Sagar's niece Tumpa, 12, daughter of Guman Ali of the same village. Sources said the accident occurred in the afternoon when a Chapainawabganj-bound private car from Sonamasjid collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction. Of the wounded, Alam's mother Saifun, 50, and his sister Nasima were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. The two other injured Alam's sister Moina, 30, and his nephew Mohabbat, 9), were released after first aid.
