Former BCL leader killed in Lakshmipur

A former Chhatra League leader was killed by a group of alleged BNP cadres at Ramganj in Lakshmipur on Thursday night failing to realise toll money.The dead was identified as Md Manik ,25, son of Mir Harun, a local Awami League leader. Sources said the miscreants claiming themselves as BNP cadres demanded Tk one lakh as toll from Manik after he returned from Kuwait recently. As Manik rejected their demand, they picked him up from a tea stall near his house at about 1:00pm on Thursday. They chopped Manik indiscriminately and left him at Karpara in Ramganj in a critical condition. Later, he was admitted to a local health complex where he succumbed to his injuries at about 10:00pm on Thursday.
