5.5kg heroin seized in Rajshahi

Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) seized Tk 5 crore worth heroin weighing 5.5 kg from the river Padma at Godagari upazila in Rajshahi on Friday night while a large cache of the contraband drug was being smuggled into the country.Sources said that a special BDR team chased a gang of drug-traffickers by boat on the river Padma near Harishankar of Godagari to apprehend only a portion of a large consignment of heroin. However, BDR could not catch any of the smugglers during this raid. The seized drugs were handed over to the Department of Narcotics Control.
