Cahill wants a shot at Brazil

Australia's two goal hero from their opening 3-1 victory over Japan Tim Cahill begged coach Guus Hiddink on Friday for the chance to face five-times champions Brazil in Sunday's eagerly-awaited Group F clash.

Hiddink had hinted he might rest the 26-year-old Everton midfielder for the match in Munich because he was booked in their opening match with Japan and faces a suspension if he picks up another yellow card, which would rule him out of the final group match against Croatia.

But Cahill, who has just returned from injury, came off the bench to score twice -- including Australia's first ever goal at football's global showpiece -- against Japan and is desperate to face Ronaldinho, Kaka and company this weekend.

He told Everton's website: "I'd take the opportunity to start against Brazil with both hands. The Japan game was all about getting through, but I got through and I'm a fit lad," said Cahill, who made his debut in 2000 after having to bide his time before gaining international clearance from FIFA as he had already played for the Western Samoa Under-20 side.

"We're not looking towards the last match against (on June 22 in Stuttgart) Croatia. The biggest thing is to give everything against Brazil and if I'm selected, I'll keep on running."
