Fuel pricing and taxes

I have read the article entitled "Bangladesh and Fuel pricing" by former secretary Muhammad Zamir.

I feel like making some comments on it. You will agree with me that only 20,0000 (two hundred thousand) out of 14 crore people pay the active income taxes. Don't you think that it is a wrong suggestion to introduce a special fuel tax for all?

Another wrong suggestion is to put more tax burden to Fixed

Depositors as they are already paying 10 % tax on their profit. It is a huge sum that the government is getting now. The government should encourage people to put more money as fixed deposit without revealing the source. The Bangladesh Bank, which has put binding on all commercial banks to reveal the source, should think about this.

The government has rightly raised the fuel price as the direct users and the direct consumers will bear this expense. Why should the limited number of income tax payers bear this huge burden? Moreover, there is no incentive for those who are paying income taxes.

I would request the Hon'ble Finance Minister to look into my suggestions.
