Bangladesh gains representation in the World Dance Alliance

Eminent dance historian, researcher, a critic of Indian classical dance and vice president of World Dance Alliance, Asia Pacific, Dr Sunil Kothari was in Dhaka recently. During his stay he attended several performances by dance organisations of renowned Bangladeshi dancers.Dr Kothari, who will be in charge of the Bangladesh chapter of the World Dance Alliance, recently announced that noted dancers, Minu Haque and Tamanna Rahman have been elected as members of the World Dance Alliance. This announcement was made at a convention of the World Dance Alliance 2006, held at Hong Kong between June 11 to 17. The president of World Dance Alliance, professor Md Anisur Rahman, chairman of research and documentation network Urmila Sarkar and a noted choreographer are due to arrive in Dhaka sometime in December this year. Around this time the team will conduct a seven-day course on choreography.
