Fifteenth anniversary of Nandimukh
Eight-day theatre festival begins in Chittagong

To mark the 15th anniversary of Nandimukh, one of the most popular theatre troupes in Chittagong, the group has arranged an eight-day theatre festival at Shilpakala Academy, Chittagong from June 23.Theatre personality Professor Zia Hyder will inaugurate the festival. Hyder has a good standing in the cultural world for his promotion of the post-Liberation theatre movement in Chittagong and putting it at par with Dhaka. Besides Chittagong troupes-- Nandimukh, FAIM School and IDCC-- four troupes from Dhaka and Sawbdaboli from Barisal are participating in the festival. Troupes from Dhaka are Janmasutra, Kanthashilon, newly formed troupe Karigor and Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation member troupe Shubachan Natya Sangsad. Chief of organising troupe Nandimukh Ahijit Sengupta asserted, "This is the fourth festival arranged by Nandimukh, one of the few troupes which has been staging theatre regularly in Chittagong."
