Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam of the Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court handed down the sentence in presence of the convict Rabeya Khatun alias Zahura Khatun.

The court acquitted Billal Hossain, another accused in the case, as the charge brought against him was not proved.

Earlier, the prosecution and the defence completed their arguments and the court recorded statement of 12 prosecution witnesses.

According to the prosecution, the customs officials at the Zia International Airport arrested Rabeya with a bag of 4kg heroin when she landed at about 8:30pm on June 3, last year. She was handed over to Airport police the same day.

Assistant Public Prosecutor Shahidul Islam Sardar appeared for the state while Advocate Ali Akbar defended the accused.
