Tk 43cr JU budget


The senate of Jahangirnagar University (JU) yesterday passed a Tk 43.00 crore budget for fiscal year 2006-07.

Treasurer Prof Abdul Hai placed the budget before the senate at 4:00pm.

Vice-chancellor Prof Khandaker Mustahidur Rahman presided over the session.

Of the total amount, Tk 39.50 crore will be provided by the University Grants Commission (UGC) while Tk 3.50 crore will come from university's own resources.

More than 70 percent of the total budget will be spent for salary and other facilities including pension and provident fund of teachers, officers and employees of the university.

Expenditure in transport sector has increased much due to hike in fuel price.

A total of Tk 7.00 crore will be spent under the annual development programme (ADP).

A four-storied dormitory with an accommodation capacity of 682 students will be constructed under the ADP.

A total of Tk 1.11 crore has been earmarked for library, Tk 55.19 lakh for scholarship, Tk 66.57 lakh for medical and Tk 16 lakh for Internet facilities.
