6,000 RMG workers sued for violence

About 6,000 garment workers have been sued in connection with Sunday's violence that left 30 people, including six policemen, injured.

The violence erupted over rumours of death of three garment workers who were injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Mymensing highway at Signboard Bus Stand under Gazipur Sadar upazila in the morning.

The agitated garment workers put up barricades on the highway, clashed with police, torched three buses and vandalised 12 vehicles.

After the incident, Assistant Sub-Inspector Mizanur Rahman filed the case against the garment workers with Joydevpur Police Station.

Three garment workers--Kamal Hossain, Sarker, and Yakub Ali--were injured when a Chandana-bound bus from Sadarghat in Dhaka hit them at about 8:00am.

They were rushed to Tongi Hospital, from where Kamal was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
