JU teacher blamed for 'indecent' behaviour with female students

Students of the Department of Environmental Science (ES) of Jahangirnagar University yesterday in a press release brought an allegation of 'indecent' behaviour against a teacher of their department and urged the concerned authorities to bring back healthy academic atmosphere at the department.

The press release said a number of female students stopped attending classes being embarrassed and offended by the 'indecent' behaviour of Mohammad Amir Hossain Bhuiyan, a lecturer of the department.

The students alleged that the teacher peeped into the room of female students when they were on study tour in Sundarban recently this year.

He proposes to the female students calling them in his room in the name of providing academic assistance, the press release added.

"I am a bee and look for honey flower to flower. And so I am still single," students quoted Bhuiyan often saying in the class as a reason behind his not getting married.

Despite repeated attempts over telephone, neither the chairman of the department Dr Mahfuza Sharifa Sultana nor the accused teacher could be contacted.
