Chuadanga AL leader killed in bomb attack
Unb, Chuadanga
Unknown assailants last night threw bombs that left an Awami League (AL) leader dead and a Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) cadre severely injured at Alamdanga upazila in Chuadanga. Sources said Ohidul Islam, 35, AL president of ward no-5 of Alamdanga municipality, died on the spot while the right hand and left leg of Bablu, JCD secretary of Alamdanga upazila, were blown off in the bomb attack at around 9:00pm. The victims were gossiping in a mango grove at Kalidaspur when the assailants lobbed three bombs. Police recovered Ohidul's body and sent Bablu to hospital for treatment. They suspected outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) were involved in the bomb attack. Chuadanga and adjoining districts are heavily infested with outlawed organisations who have killed at least 37 people in Chuadanga during the last 18 months.
