CPB to put up 56 candidates in elections

Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) at its central committee meeting yesterday discussed its plan to put up 56 candidates in the coming general election.

The meeting also reviewed the activities of the party's possible candidates in their constituencies, and called upon all concerned to play a greater role in waging a tougher movement against the government.

The party also called for realising its 53-point demand in order to ensure a free and fair election, said a press release.

The meeting observed that without radical reforms of the election process, the elections would turn out to be a mere competition among the millionaires.

The CPB also condemned Israel for its killing spree with the "help of the USA".
