Six-star dreams for Houllier

Lyon coach Gerard Houllier believes the French champions are capable of winning a sixth successive league title.

Lyon already have the record of five-in-a-row and the former Liverpool boss insists a sixth domestic crown will take top priority even over the Champions League.

"It is our number one objective. The second objective is to go as far as possible in or even win the Champions League," said Houllier.

"To win six would be the most beautiful for me and for the team also. Each year it gets more difficult."

Houllier believes that the sheer effort involved in possibly winning a sixth consecutive French title could have more value than the Champions League which has so far eluded the team.

"For me, the best thing is to win your country's league especially when no other team from the major countries has won six-in-a-row," he told French sports daily L'Equipe on Monday.

"In the championship race, there are always difficult times. Last year we suffered a lot in January and February, with players injured. Winning a cup has a lot of emotions, but for me it can't be more emotional than winning the league."

The new French league season gets underway on July 30.
