Our Correspondent from Comilla adds: One person was killed and 21 others were injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Baltoli under Sadar Dhkkhin upazila yesterday.

The deceased was identified as bus driver Md Farooque,35, of Noyagoan in Shaharasti upazila in Chandpur district.

Police said the accident occurred at about 11.30am when a Dhaka-bound covert van collided head-on with a Chandpur-bound passenger bus.

The critically injured were sent to different hospitals and clinics in Comilla.

The vehicle movement on the busy route was disrupted for one hour following the accident.

A case was filed with the Sadar Dakkhin police and the body was sent to the Comilla Medical Collage Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Our staff correspondent from Chittagong reports: One woman was killed and three others injured in a road accident at Laldighir Parr area in the port city yesterday.

The accident occurred when a city service bus crashed into the footpath along the busy road at Laldighir Parr hitting the pedestrians at around 4:00pm, sources said.

It left one unidentified woman, 30, killed on the spot and three others including the bus driver Md Nabi, 25, injured.

The other two injured pedestrians were identified as Sohag, 25, and Saddam, 12. The injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital.
