Nine suspected militants sent to Jhalakati jail


Jhalakati Sadar upazila magistrate court sent nine suspected Islamic militants, including two Pakistanis, to jail after completion of their three-day remand for the third time yesterday.

They were arrested in the district town on July 8.

Jhalakathi police produced the accused to the court yesterday noon. Earlier, they were taken on remand twice.

Abul Hossain, sub-inspector and investigation officer of the case, told the court that they found no connection of the arrestees with militancy and asked the concerned police stations to verify their addresses given by the accused.

Magistrate Mehdi Masudduazzaman ordered to send the arrestees to Jhalakati district jail under Section 54 of the CrPC.

Advocate Haider Hossain, a Jamat leader and public prosecutor of Jhalakati, handed over the accused --- Golam Sabbir Akhtar Kaderi of Sargoda, Punjab in Pakistan, Md Belal Afsar Akhtar Kaderi, another Pakistani residing in Dhaka, Md Abdul Gani Akhtar Kaderi of Barguna, Md Ilias Hossain Akhtar Kaderi of Chittagong, Md Ilias Akhtar Kaderi of Rangamati, Imran Akhtar Kaderi of Noakhali, Md Nazrul Islam Akhtar Kaderi of Habiganj and Kazi Nazrul Islam Akhtar Kaderi of Barisal --- to Jhalakati Sadar Police Station on July 7.

Police arrested Nurul Absar Akhtar Kaderi of Raozan, Chittagong when he came to visit the accused at the Jhalakati Sadar Police Station on July 8 morning.

The arrestees said they were members of 'Dawate Islami' (Tablig and Dawat) and followers of 'Kaderia Tarika' and their 'Pir" (religious master) was Yusuf Aktari of Punjab.
