Razzle dazzle and glamour

Glamour and glitz were much in evidence at the final round of the 'Goalini Binodon Bichitra Miss Photogenic 2005' contest on July 16. The function was held at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre. Eleven of the participants made it to the final round. The participants came on stage, each beautifully made up by beauty expert Kaniz Almas and attired by fashion houses Ghoongru, Check and World Fashion Studio. While the participants walked down the ramp, short video clips introducing them in the background were displayed. The esteemed judges for the occasion were jury board chairman Chinmoy Mutshuddi, Rashidul Zaman Millat (MP), Ayub Bachchu, Kaniz Almas, Moushumi, Ferdous, and Baby Nazneen. Ultimately the crown went to Fahmida Aziz Shetu, a 21-year-old MBA student. In a tight competition, the judges decided upon two runners up instead of one, namely- Silvi Azmi (22, Honours 1st year) and Nusrat Sharmin Ismriti (21, BBA 4th semester). The third runner up was Nazira Ahmed Mou (19, fashion designer). There were also four special category awards in which the best smile went to Sadia Rahman. Best performance went to Rifat Ara Mortuza, best hair went to Farzana Oni and the best look award went to Opoma Hawladar. Barrister Najmul Huda, Communications Minister and Abdul Jalil general secretary, Bangladesh Awami League was present at the event. While the 11 participants showcased their talents on the catwalk, dancing and singing, the audience was also entertained renowned media personalities. Abida Sultana, Rafiqul Alam, Ayub Bachhu, Bijori Barkatullah, Shubro Dev, Dolly Shayantoni, Rabi Choudhury and others mesmerised the audience with their melodious voices and at the same time personalities from the film industry such as Rumana, Sajal, Kamol, Faiza and Rahul Khan danced away to popular Bangla film songs. 'Goalini Binodon Bichitra Miss Photogenic 2005' was sponsored by S.A Group of Industries.
