Weeklong tree fair ends in Mymensingh

A weeklong tree fair jointly organised by Forest Department and Agriculture Extension Department at town hall ground ended here on Tuesday.Deputy Commissioner M Golam Mustafa was present as the chief guest while Additional Deputy Commissioner Abu Yusuf presided over the concluding function. The function was addressed, among others, by Divisional Forest Officer Akbar Hossain, Deputy Director (DAE) Dulal Chandra Sarker, journalist Ataul Karim Khokan, four party alliance leaders Kazi Rana, Asaduzzaman Shohel, Jahangir Ahamed, Prof Wasek Billah and Prof Pradip Kumar Dey. Prizes and certificates were also distributed among the best nursery owners and the winners of an essay competition. Environment and Forest Minister Tariqul Islam inaugurated the fair on July 12. A total of 35 stalls were set up in the fair where 35000 fruit bearing, herbal and wood saplings were sold.
