Mohammedan Sporting Club at last turned up in the inter-club players' transfer on the final day to complete their formalities in the Premiership hockey at the Maulana Bhasani National Stadium yesterday.

The popular Motijheel outfit, who stayed away from the hectic first two days' bourse dominated by frantic activities from other giants Usha Krira Chakra and Abahani, finally lured in some ageing players.

Mohammedan signed up 14 players including five bracketed in the national pool. They are Ashiquzzaman, Yamin Hossain, Mashiur Rahman Biplob, Maksudul Alam Habul and Shamim Reza.

Finished third in the Premier League last year, the Black and Whites brought Shamim Reza from Abahani and Yamin from the Mariners Club. They also confirmed the services of their striker Ariful Haque Prince for one more year. Goalkeeper Shakil, Tawhidur Rahman Tuhin, Rashed Hasan Ronny, Ashiqul Haque Rinku, Mahbubur Rahman Chayan, Sohag Gazi, Anisuzzaman Sweet and Sharafat Mia were the other players joined the Mohammedan ranks.

Defending champions Usha and runners-up Abahani however completed strong line-ups in their hot pursuit to win the title.

Big-spending Abahani recruited dependable defender Issa Mia from Mariners apart from retaining their own striker Russel Mahmud Jimmy for a reportedly highest pay of the season. The Abahani line-up also boasts Musa Mia, Faruque Ahmed, Mahbub Ehsan Rana and Hedayet Islam Rajib.

Usha mainly focused on retaining the team that won the title last year. Besides, they have also signed up Mohammedan trio of veteran striker Rafiqul Islam Kamal, Shamsuddin Tuhin, Zahidul Islam Rajan and Abahani's Shahidullah Titoo.
