BCU places 13-pt demand

Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU) placed a 13-point demand on Thursday with a view to making Dhaka University an effective centre for higher education and keeping the higher education within the reach of common people.The demands include immediate election to DU Central Students' Union, repeal of the proctorial law, a decrease in admission fee, implementation of the academic schedule and regular publication of results. The BCU, a left-leaning student organisation, also demanded an increase in funds for research works, Internet facilities at residential dormitories and construction of new dormitories. Placing the demands at a press conference on the DU campus, the BCU leaders also announced some programmes beginning today to realise those.
