Community primary teachers lay siege to secretariat today


Community primary teachers observing hunger strike since August 6 at the Central Shaheed Minar demanding nationalisation of their jobs will besiege the secretariat today and the Prime Minister's Office tomorrow.

Teachers under the banner of Bangladesh Community Primary Teachers' Association will bring out a procession from the Central Shaheed Minar and march towards the secretariat at 12:00 noon to press the government meet their one point demand.

The teachers on hunger strike yesterday announced fresh programmes from a rally held at the Central Shaheed Minar. Afterwards, they marched through different streets in the capital.

As many as 10,565 community primary school teachers from 3778 community primary schools for around 10 lakh students are paid only Tk 750 a month each. All community primary schools have been closed after the teachers went on strike.
