Following in the footsteps of the BNP and Awami League, some small political parties are going to kick off an alliance-- the Juktafront (United Front)-- on Wednesday.Led by former president Badruddoza Chowdhury and Dr Kamal Hossain, the lightweights in local politics moved to forge an alliance last week and came close to finalising their declaration, sources said. Leaders are trying hard to bring the parties disillusioned with the BNP-led 4-party alliance under the latest coalition to make an impact in the run up to the forthcoming elections. Top leaders will meet formally Tuesday upon finalisation of the declaration and the alliance will be launched through a press conference Wednesday. The Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB), Gono Forum, Krishak Sramik Janata League, Tarikat Federation, Zaker Party, Jatiya Gonotantrik Party and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD- Ziku) are the parties so far who agreed to form the alliance. Sources said leaders of these parties held an exclusive meeting at the residence of BDB leader Firoje M Hasan last night to finalise the draft declaration. Among others, Abdul Mannan of the BDB, Fazlur Rahman of the Krishak Sramik Janata League, Abdur Rouf of the Gono Forum, Moulana Zakir Hossain of the Tarikat Federation and Abdul Malek Ratan of the JSD attend the meeting.
