BCB boys bat out final day


Jahirul Islam stroked a half-century to follow his first innings ton as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) National Cricket Academy batted out the last day to draw the first four-day match against Pakistan Cricket Academy at the TMC ground in Karachi yesterday.

At stumps, the BCB side were on 203 for the loss of just one wicket as right-hander Jahirul and skipper Mehrab Hossain were at the crease till the end.

Having started the day on 49 for no loss, the openers continued to be patient as both Nazmus Sadat and the left-handed Mehrab scored fifties. Sadat scored 61 before becoming the only man to get out, falling to slow left-arm bowler Fawwad.

Jahirul batted persistently as well, showing a lot of restraint to score 62, while his captain batted along with him for the entire day to be not out on 56.

Play was called off in the 77th over of the day after it was agreed that no result was possible in the match.

The visiting Academy side now travel to Multan where selector Golam Nowsher, who leaves Dhaka today, will join them.
