Rabiroshmi celebrates eighth anniversary
Fahmida Khatun bags honours


The cultural organisation Rabiroshmi honoured eminent Tagore singer Fahmida Khatun at their 8th anniversary on August 19. The programme, titled Jago Antore Jago, was held at the National Museum.

The programme was divided into two sessions. In the first segment, chief guest of the event, veteran Tagore exponent and president of Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha (BRSSS), Kalim Sharafi, handed a crest to Fahmida Khatun. Tapan Mahmud general secretary and Sajed Akbar and Salma Akbar joint secretaries of BRSSS and veteran poet Mahbubul Alam Chowdhury felicitated the singer on the occasion. Fahmida was also presented a cheque of Taka 10,000.

After the first session the audience were treated to a medley of Tagore songs that comprised Dhrupad, Baul and kirtan genres that merged with the maestro's songs on rain.

Shikha Paul, Rabeya Aktar, Sharmin Rahman Chaiti, Morshed Alam, Rekha Bonik, Shamim Ara Begum, Mahadev Ghosh, Happy Das, Hafizur Rahman Dulal, Deepti chowdhury and others rendered the songs. Bhashwar Bannerjee recited poems of the great bard.
