BDR, BSF trade gunshots on Satkhira border

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) traded gunfire on Baikari border under Satkhira Sadar upazila last night.

The BSF personnel of Kaizuri camp in North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, fired six to seven bullets targeting the Baikari BDR camp at about 10 pm, forcing the paramilitary Bangladesh troops to retaliate with 10 to 15 shots. No casualty was however reported.

After the incident, the Indian border guards reinforced its strength at all border outposts and increased patrols along the frontier.

On the other hand, BDR personnel have been put on high alert on the border, BDR sources said.

When contacted, Major Humayun of 41 Rifles Battalion confirmed the incident.
