Srijon stages 50th musical programme
Robin Ghosh honoured


Noted music director Robin Ghosh was honoured on the last day of the two-day musical soiree titled Phele Asha Diner Gaan organised by Srijon at the National Museum. The event began on August 26.

Lyricist KG Mostafa presided over the programme while litterateur Selima Rahman was the special guest on the occasion.

The musical soiree got off to a start with Tahnina Islam's dance accompanied by Syed Meher Hossain on tabla. The performance was well appreciated by the crowd.

Then the singers took the stage and rendered Tagore, Nazrul and Lalon songs. Songs composed by Robin Ghosh were presented as a tribute to the composer. Apart from Bangla songs, Robin Ghosh is also known for composing many popular Hindi and Urdu songs.

ATM Jahangir presented Tagore song Amar jibon patro, Barkat Hossain rendered Nazrul song Tomar haather shonar rakhi.

Mamun Zahid Khan, Mumtarin Mahal, Sumon Majumdar, Shikha Rouf and Ali Mahmud rendered songs composed by Robin Ghosh -- Tara bhora rate, Ke smaranero prantorey, Bhuley gechhi shur ogo, Tomare legechhey ato je bhalo and Phuler kaney bhromor eshey.

Rafiqul Alam, Subir Nandi, Lucky Akhand, Ferdous Ara, Farhana Akhter, Zakir Hossain Tapan, Samima Parvin and Tapan Majumdar also presented songs in the programme.

Since 2002, Srijon has been regularly arranging Phele Asha Diner Gaan (songs of yesteryears) on the last Saturday of every month at the National Museum. Organisers hope to work as a platform bridging generations through such programmes.
