Strike suspended for two days

The doctors, officials, staff and nurses of Shaheed Suhrawardi Hospital yesterday suspended their two-hour token work stoppage for two days.Leaders of Doctors, Officials and Staff and Nurses Sangram Parishad said they will announce a tougher movement at a rally after Thursday's two-hour work abstention programme. They enforced the work stoppage demanding implementation of their six-point demands that included arrest and punishment of those who beat up two nurses of the hospital on Wednesday. Their other demands include construction of a boundary wall around the hospital, a permanent police camp on its premises and removal of the slum adjoining the hospital. Daulatunnesa, a leader of the Parishad, said that they have suspended their programme for two days after director of the hospital Prof Hosneara Begum and other top officials concerned requested them to suspend their programme considering the sufferings of the patients.
