The victim is identified as Tania Akhtar, daughter of a fruit vendor Jamal Howladar of Karimullahbagh in Shyampur.

Jamal, who sells sugarcane juices on street pavement beside his house, went out keeping Tania seated at his place at 11:00pm on Monday.

"When I returned in just 15 minutes, I could not find her," he told the reporters, adding that since then she had been missing.

Locals found her body from a nearby bushy place at Karim-ullahbagh yesterday morning.

The police sent the body to Sir Salimullah Medical College morgue for autopsy. Morgue sources said they found bruises all over her body and had symptoms of rape.
