The dollar held steady against the yen in Asian trade Tuesday after hitting a two-month high overseas on a rebound ahead of a Group of Seven meeting of finance ministers, dealers said.

The dollar barely moved at 117.61 yen in Tokyo morning trade from 117.63 in New York late Monday, where it touched a two-month high of 117.78 yen.

The euro rose to 1.2715 dollars from 1.2700 and to 149.54 yen from 149.41.

Market participants are waiting for meetings of global financial powerbrokers in Singapore starting Saturday with a gathering of Group of Seven finance ministers.
