‘Grenade’ hurled at Gulshan building

Unknown criminals hurled a grenade at the gate of a multi-storied building, owned by a BNP legislator, in Gulshan-2 in the city last evening but it failed to explode.

"They heard something fall near the main entrance of Silver Tower around 7:00pm in the evening," police quoted witnesses as saying.

They informed the police of the matter as the object resembled a grenade. The police recovered the grenade and kept it in a bucket full of water.

Explosive experts from Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) took the grenade for further examination later on.

Lawmaker MAH Selim, from Bagerhat-2 constituency, owns the tower, where his office is also located.

"It's not clear whether the grenade is genuine or fake. It will be clear after examination," Sub-inspector Asaduzzaman of Gulshan Police Station told The Daily Star last night.

A general diary (GD) was filed with Gulshan Police Station in this connection.
