Seven killed in road accidents

7 people were killed and 55 others injured in different road accidents in Sylhet and Lalmonirhat.Our Correspondent from Sylhet reports: Four people were killed and 20 others injured in a road accident at the suburb of the city on Airport Road yesterday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Shahidul Islam, 35, of Netrokona, Nilu Miah, 40, of Purbo Baishtila of Sylhet Sadar and two unidentified men of 30 and 40 years. Police and locals informed the accident took place when a city-bound passenger bus from Gowainghat upazila collided head-on with a speeding truck in front of Malnichhera Tea Garden at about 5:00pm. The truck was on its way to Companiganj upazila having started from Sylhet. The injured were rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. 10 of them were critically injured, hospital sources said. UNB from Lalmonirhat adds: Three people were killed and at least 35 injured in a tragic road accident near Saranamati Bridge under Aditmari upazila Saturday morning. Witnesses said a Bogra-bound passenger bus of Aninda Paribahan from Patgram skidded off the road while getting on Sarnapati Bridge at about 8:00am and plunged into the ditch down the bridge. One of the victims killed on the spot was identified as Mustak Ahmed, 35, of Kaunia upazila in Rangpur district. Among the injured, six were admitted to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital while two were rushed to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in 'critical condition'.
