103 personalities honoured in Rajshahi


Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) on Friday evening in a reception function honoured 103 local personalities including 14 professionals for their contributions in various fields that helped the city developing.

The 14 awarded personalities are -- Dr Emdadul Haque for Medicare, Salima Sarwar for social activities, Jobdul Haque for education, Tahura Akhter Khatun for motherhood, Abdul Mannan Razi for banking, Ehsanul Huda Dulu for business, Abdus Rashaid for culture, Anup Kumer Das for instrumental music, SMA Quader for journalism, Saidur Rahman Don and Late Ansar Uddin for sport, Late Abdul Jabber and Late Saleh Uddin Baby for music.

Other awarded persons include three artists -- ATN Bangla Tarokader Taroka winning singer Rezwana Karim Mouli, winning actor Suborna Sarkar, and NTV Close UP finalist Mashiur Rahman Rinku.

Some 86 sportsmen including national cricket team co-skipper Khaled Masud Pilot were awarded for highlighting Rajshahi in different national games including Cricket, Boxing, Karate, Soccer, and Swimming.

The function was addressed among others by Deputy Commissioner Syed Ahsanul Haque, New Degree Government College former principal professor Jobdul Haque, RU teacher professor Saifuddin Chowdhury, banker Abdul Mannan Razi and Shilpa Kala Academy cultural officer Abdur Rashid.

RCC social welfare standing committee chairman Rozina Begum chaired the function held at green plaza of Nagar Bhaban on Friday evening.

Rajshahi mayor Mizanur Rahman Minu attended it as the chief guest.
